In recent years, the overall revenue of Chinese medical device enterprises has steadily increased. Especially in 2020, the demand for medical protective equipment, testing reagents, and life support equipment increased significantly, and the scale of enterprise revenue exceeded one trillion yuan for the first time. According to the 2023 China Medical Device Industry Development Report, the revenue of China's medical device industry reached 1.3 trillion yuan in 2022, with a growth rate of about 12%, significantly higher than the overall growth rate of the pharmaceutical industry.

On April 28th, at the "High end Medical Device Special Session" of the 2024 Zhongguancun International Technology Trading Conference, Jiang Deyuan, former director of the Medical Device Registration Management Department of the National Medical Products Administration and senior consultant of the China Medical Device Industry Association, stated that it is expected to achieve a rapid annual growth of over 10% in the next five years.

As one of the symbols of the national manufacturing and high-tech development level, high-end medical devices are a strategic emerging industry that China focuses on supporting. Jiang Deyuan stated that medical devices are special commodities, and the medical device industry has multiple attributes of economy, people's livelihood, and public safety, making it a sunrise industry. In recent years, under the combined effects of multiple factors such as technological development, policy support, and market demand, the number of Chinese medical device enterprises has grown rapidly, and the degree of internationalization has been continuously improving.
"According to the" 2023 Medical Device Blue Book "issued under the guidance of the National Medical Products Administration in September 2023, as of January 2023, the number of medical device manufacturing enterprises in China has reached more than 32700. Medical devices are interdisciplinary products, and medical device products integrate a large number of modern scientific and technological latest achievements, making them a typical technology intensive and capital intensive industry. With the application of new materials and technologies, medical imaging, artificial intelligence, surgical robots, genetic testing, cardiovascular therapy, radiation therapy, and other fields have shown a strong trend of innovative development in the medical device field." At this event, 8 outstanding participating projects in the high-end medical device field of the "100 New Technologies and New Products List" were launched on site. This includes Lattice's "automatic transmission" blood flow guided dense mesh stent, simulated microgravity device and its application in life sciences, temperature sensitive liquid embolic agents, single hole endoscopic surgical robots, prospects for the application of the new generation "Space" series intelligent angiography X-ray machines, metaFlow high-energy water jet autonomous surgical robots, "Yi" series tumor minimally invasive ablation product matrix, and the Aerospace New Long March ECMO series products.
